What if the world was different? What if employers gave time for people to bike to work and hang out their laundry? What if weatherman reflected on whether it is a good day to dry during their morning report? What if we harnessed more energy from the sun and the wind? What if people were more concerned about the climate than the view out their window? What if we spent half as much time on the Internet and twice as much time outside? What if we considered the effect of our decisions on the next seven generations? What if we designed our communities to accommodate the discreet, tasteful drying of clothes? This is the beginning of a dream—the Project Laundry List vision. What is your vision?

I love the idea of finding easier ways to dry clothes w/o the dryer. We line dry our clothes, sheet and towels most of the year (clothes indoors during rainy seasons). But as it starts to get cooler and more fog rolls in, we don’t always have that opportunity and have to decided between using the dryer (which is great when its cold) or letting the laundry pile up.

Ahh - a blog after my own heart. I recently blogged about the modern marvel that is the Hills Hoist here: "Who's afraid of the Hills Hoist" http://corymbia.wordpress.com/2008/10/29/who%E2%80%99s-afraid-of-the-hills-hoist/
My pet hate is the manner in which Australian tv garden designers always rip out a perfectly useful solar clothes drying device because of the (apparently ugly) aesthetic. I reckon if Hills made a model with a more sculptural/fancy-schmancy base, those tv garden gurus would start putting them *in* every garden they make-over.
Long live the Hills Hoist!

Having dried the laundry of a family of four over the past three decades, because there are more important things to leave my children than a pile of outdated appliances, it is a delight to find your website. I use a portable rack, outside in the summer, by the woodstove in the winter. We also hand wash our dishes, for the same reason. The next generations deserve more than landfills of kitchen appliances, besides the fact that it offers the opportunity to slow down and enjoy a bit.

My HOA doesn't allow me to line dry. The exact wording is no 'permanent' line so i've been putting one up and done each week when I do laundry but they've now told me they are going to hold a vote at the next HOA meeting (which I cannot attend) to make that 'illegal' too.
How do I fight them? Do I need a lawyer?
What can the do to me if I just ignore them (which I have been doing but they keep pestering me)?
Their complaints are so ridiculous. How is this America, the land of the free?!?
